Tower Hamlets Cemetery Park is London’s most urban woodland, supporting an incredible variety of plants and wildlife. The park became public in 1966 and is now a Local Nature Reserve protected by Friends of Tower Hamlets Cemetery Park.
The park is a perfect spot for family walks, picnics, jogging and wildlife spotting. It it widely used by foragers, photographers, and schools – although Friends of the Park do ask that larger groups make contact before visiting. There are a number of self guided tours available online to enhance your walk through this historical woodland. Look out for the way-finders dotted about.
Every year the park hosts several festivals and arts events, including Shuffle and Depart, showcasing films, drama, circus and musical events from across London. Past events have even opened a restaurant in a tree house!
