Enterprise of the Week: Supporting Care Ltd

Enterprise of the Week: Supporting Care Ltd

For this week’s Enterprise we interviewed Mubin from Supporting Care Ltd, the health agency on Morris Road, just a stone’ s throw away from Chrisp Street Market Square. As well as offering on-site and online training, the centre runs various projects and offers room hire services to groups within the local community.

How long have you been in Poplar for and what made you join a business in Poplar?

Whilst I’m new to the health centre, I’ve worked in Poplar for over 15 years. I used to work for a local authority service near Westferry DLR station that helped families and children under 5.

How have you found the community spirit in Poplar to be like?

I’ve found it to be a nice place overall. Poplar is one of the most deprived areas in Tower Hamlets, but you can see it changing slowly through all of the developments that have been taking place – as a Tower Hamlets resident myself, I’ve seen a lot of these changes over the years. I think we need to get a bit more information out to local residents in terms of safety and how to deal with certain issues. I think that’s why something like EnterprisePPLR will help through spreading local events and advice throughout the community.

Could you give us a bit more detail on the services and projects Supporting Care are running at the moment?

I’ve been working on The Blossom Project since 2014, which is a charity that aims to create a day centre and various activities for older people. As part of the project we have a meeting and conference room that we’re hiring out to members of the local community, whether that be for engagements, birthday parties, conferences or away days.

We’re also working with elderly and vulnerable adults with difficulties on how they can receive further support, and we’re happy to receive any enquiries from community members who feel that they or someone they know may benefit from this.
