PPLR Team Update

PPLR Team Update

It’s been almost 8 weeks since we re-launched and we’re growing ever bigger and stronger (just like Popeye after a bowl of spinach – perhaps less muscle but you get the gist). A huge thank you to everyone who’s been supporting us, it’s great to see the PPLR love being spread around our fabulous corner of East London.

The work at PPLR HQ never stops. Yesterday morning we set out on a mission in the glorious sunshine to get some more listings on the Enterprise section, targeting the Chrisp Street area (home to 2 pie’n’mash shops listed on TimeOut, a famous clock tower and the first purpose-built pedestrian shopping area in the UK!) . Whilst on duty it seemed only right that we checked out some of the food on offer for ourselves (strictly for research purposes, of course). We set off with some much needed fuel for our walk-around with a sausage sandwich from classic East End cafe JPs, and finished the morning with traditional Indian delicacies from Madhubon Sweets. There’s also loads of brand new bright graffiti art around the area thanks to a new Walls on Walls project, and it’s impossible to miss Chaz the giant Chihuahua too!

But anyway, back to the important part. Not only did we successfully sign up 16 new businesses, we even got offered a batch of free dry cleaning (hopefully our *high 5* was a legitimate way to seal the deal) and given 2 free cakes – all thanks to a bit of friendly East London banter with the local shop owners. Needless to say we were impressed with what Chrisp Street had to offer (bad for the diet – but great for the website).

Remember – the enterprise section is Poplar’s answer to the yellow pages (what we lack in quantity we absolutely make up for in quality!). Check it out to find your local locksmith, greengrocer, butcher or beautician.

Another day in the life of the PPLR team.
